Ideal

“I want a world where I can tell people to live.

One I can proudly describe to people whose only salvation is death.

A place more appealing than death.

That’s all we ever wanted in this world we live in.

And if a place like that doesn’t exist,

then I will make one”

By: Thorfinn from Vinland saga (Makoto Yukimura)

The purpose of action is to bring forth the ideal. But what is the ideal? What indicates we are going towards it? When you are not going towards it the message is clear, pain. Pain is like a push from God towards the ideal. When you listen to it, it will show you the way. If you don’t, you will find yourself on the path of Cain and Pharaoh from the bible. Like Cain, Pharaoh didn’t learn from his mistakes and God punished him. He was punished more and more, because he kept denying him. But finally, he relented after seeing there was no way out.

We all usually know what we should do, but the sinful desires are often too much to bear.

“If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.”

James 4:17

But what will give you the strength to withstand sin and follow what’s right?

If you want to get rid of sin, let it flourish in order to see where it’s leading to. Withstanding it is the wrong approach. Understand what will happen if you go down that path, and your desire will wither into thin air. To know where to go, you first need to know where not to go.

“No tree, it is said, can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell.”

Carl Jung

Jesus went to hell before he entered heaven. You also need to see the dark side, before you can leave it. Once you have had enough, there is only one way up.

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. “

Matthew 7:13

We all have

Freedom to make a choice.

Freedom to make a mistake.

Freedom to learn from it.

Or freedom to do it again.

Choice contains both good and evil.

But the ideal contains no evil.

So, if the ideal is freedom.

Then freedom contains no evil.

How do we then sacrifice the evil?

By learning from mistakes,

And reaching for the highest idol.

Freedom is the service towards the highest ideal. And courage is doing it no matter the circumstance.

But how do you find that courage?

By taking the true leap of faith, which is: trusting that the world is good. This is the only path, what else can you do? Announce that the world is bad, because of the evidence and therefore not worth pursuing any further? Good luck with that.

This courage to carve your path towards the highest ideal is the source of meaning. Without meaning we would all turn to nihilism and despair. Put it’s not about forcing things, it’s about accepting and allowing the ideal to manifest without you blocking the way with your sinful desires. Dropping everything you know that hinders your path.

Life is a mystery, full of wonder and beauty. It’s a story about overcoming. Overcoming the burden within. And that’s the gift of life, A chance to realize and unite with the ideal. A chance to find out who you truly are.
